More statues defaced, including Gandhi statues and Dr. Ambedkar

Repeated incidents of vandalism on statues of national leaders are occurring across the country. A major clash erupted between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress on March 7 after few miscreants tried to vandalize Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's Statue in Kolkata. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued their protest against the demolition. Protesters condemned the defacing of the statue and demanded stern action against guilty. Earlier six people were detained by the state police. The cases of statue vandalism have taken the country by storm. The vandalism of statues of public figures started after Lenin's statue was razed in Agartala.
