No-confidence motion test for Congress, allies: PM Modi’s jibe at Opposition

Updated on Jul 20, 2018 11:38 pm IST

The no-confidence motion on Friday was more a trial for Congress and allies than for his government, Narendra Modi said on Friday in Lok Sabha, taking a dig at Opposition unity ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Modi suggested while Congress president Rahul Gandhi is harbouring ambitions to become Prime Minister his prospective allies also have similar ambitions.

In his speech during the no-confidence motion debate PM Modi also said, 'why such hurry to grab power', retorting hours after Congress President Rahul Gandhi hugged him while wrapping up his speech earlier in the day.
