Petrol, diesel prices hiked in UP: Watch people’s reaction

Many people reacted sharply to the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to increase prices of petrol and diesel in the state. The Yogi Adityanath government raised the value-added tax on auto fuels, therefore, causing a hike of Rs 2 per litre in petrol, and Re 1 per litre in diesel. Many criticised the move, citing financial troubles caused by the Covid-induced lockdown. However, there were some motorists who said that the move was justified since governments were facing increased expenditure due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
