PM Modi inaugurates 1st flight under ‘UDAN’ in Shimla

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the first flight under regional connectivity scheme 'UDAN' from Jubbar Hatti airport in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla. Under 'UDAN', which stands for 'Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik,' the Government will provide air connectivity to the unserved airports across the nation. Under this, connectivity will be provided at a subsidised rate of Rs. 2,500 for per hour of flights. The scheme has been launched under the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) which was released in June, 2016. After the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi also addressed the gathering. This was PM Modi's first visit to Shimla since becoming the Prime Minister.
