With Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the Congress party is hoping to cash in on the sentiment in the North-East against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Raising the issue at a rally in Manipur's Imphal, Congress President Rahul Gandhi vowed to not let the Citizenship Bill pass, calling it an attack on the culture and history of the state. Gandhi also accused the NDA government of snatching Manipur's special status and promised to reinstate it.
