Sabarimala case referred to larger SC bench, all-women entry continues

After the landmark Ayodhya verdict, all eyes were on the SC over the review petitions challenging the entry of women of all ages into the Sabarimala temple. A 5-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi referred the matter to a larger 7-judge bench by a 3:2 majority. The apex court also asked the larger bench to look into other matters related to religion including women's entry into mosques, rights of Parsi women who marry outside the community to access towers of silence and female genital mutilation among the Dawoodi Bohra community.
