Sitaram Yechury was on Sunday re-elected as CPI(M) general secretary for the second time at the 22nd party congress in Hyderabad. Yechury's immediate challenge is improving CPI(M)'s tally in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The 65-year-old leader has successfully incorporated his views in the party's political line (what does stance mean?) After being elected, Yechury told the party congress, “Our main task is to defeat the BJP-RSS government. We have emerged more stronger and united from this party congress.” Yechury had taken over as general secretary from Prakash Karat in the 21st party congress in 2015.
