Watch: Will petrol cross the Rs. 100 per litre mark?

Updated on Sept 06, 2018 01:56 pm IST

Hindustan Times takes a look at the ticking time bomb of fuel prices in the country. Surging global oil prices and the falling rupee have led to an unusual spurt in fuel prices that is pinching the pockets of the common man. In the national capital, petrol is being sold at Rs 79.15 per litre, while diesel prices have been hiked to Rs 71.15 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 86.56 per litre while diesel price has spurted to a new high of Rs 75.54 per litre. But did you know that what you pay per litre of fuel is actually double its price at the refinery? Given the costlier oil imports and the US sanctions on Iran, many have begun talking about petrol prices soon crossing the Rs. 100 per litre mark.
