Watch: First visuals of Earth from ISRO’s Chandrayaan 2 | Moon Mission
Updated on Feb 25, 2020 01:46 pm IST
Chandrayaan 2 sent back its first images of Earth, two weeks after it was launched. The photographs were taken on August 3, 2019. The craft has already successfully carried out four of five orbit-raising manoeuvres. After the last manoeuvre, the Chandrayaan will be on a trans-lunar path. This is India's most ambitious space mission yet, with ISRO attempting its first soft landing on a heavenly body. The lander and rover segments of Chandrayaan 2 are slated to land on the Moon's surface around September 7, 2019. This will also be the first mission, by any country, to study the lunar south pole.
