The new chief of the Indian Army spelled out his vision for the force soon after taking charge. General Manoj Mukund Naravane succeeded General Bipin Rawat to become the 28th Chief of Army Staff. In an interview, General Naravane spoke on a host of issues, including Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, border tension with China, modernisation of the Army, and abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status. He also spoke about the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff post, whose first occupant is General Naravane's predecessor General Rawat.
