Watch video: All about the uprecedented security cover for this year’s Amarnath yatra
Updated on Jun 27, 2018 11:49 am IST
Unprecedented security arrangements have been made for this year's Amarnath yatra which begins on June 28. The first batch of the annual pilgrimage left Jammu for the base camps in Kashmir's Pahalgam and Baltal early on June 27. Last year, eight pilgrims were killed when suspected militants attacked a bus in Anantnag town. However, this year the Hizbul Mujahideen militant group has reportedly said it has no plans to attack the pilgrimage. But not willing to take any chances, the government has beefed up security including deploying around 40,000 security personnel this year.
