Woman allegedly given triple talaq over dowry in UP’s Shamli

A woman in Shamli alleged that she was given triple talaq by her husband over demand for dowry. The victim said, “My in-laws were asking for dowry of Rs 50,000 and I was beaten up and then my husband gave me triple talaq.” The woman who was married in Thana Bhawan area also alleged that her husband and in-laws beat her up and threw her out of the house. The victim and her family went to the office of Superintendent of Police to file a complaint. Dinesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Shamli said, “A woman who is married in Thana Bhawan area had filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws where she said that she was beaten up by them and was given triple talaq in the panchayat. Investigation in the case is underway.”
