A zoo acquires 76 rare birds

A zoo in Chennai has acquired 76 rare birds, including parakeets and hybrid pea fowls, the national bird. The birds were brought from the Gemini birds farm in neighbouring Kancheepuram district to the Arinagar Anna zoological park at Vandalur recently to enrich their ongoing successful breeding programmes. With the arrival of 13 hybrid colourful pea fowls, including three chicks, the Arinagar Anna zoo now boasts of as many as 39 pea fowls.
