A zoo in Nainital houses endangered species of animals

G B Pant zoo in Nainital becomes the only zoo in India located at a height of 2020 metres above the sea level which houses some of the rare and endangered species of animals like snow leopard and Himalayan bear. The Zoo was established in 1984 with the objective of conserving and protecting the wild life and bio-diversity of the hill region of Uttarakhand. Spread over an area of 4.693 hectares it houses some of the rare and endangered species of animals.
