Annual autumn festival kicks off in Shillong

The week- long autumn festival kick started in Shillong. The festivities began with a street parade accompanied by over 15 tableaus, more than 200 traditional dancers, pipe bands and traditional musicians. The annual carnival is organised at the onset of autumn season to promote tourism in the northeastern state of Meghalaya, but the event is gradually becoming a tradition of the hill and is celebrated with full fervor.
