Congress holds rally to garner support on FDI

Updated on Oct 01, 2012 08:32 pm IST

In a bid to combat opposition protests over the central government's decision on retail opening, senior Congress leaders on Monday held a rally in New Delhi to garner support on FDI that has been a bone of contention for key political outfits including coalition allies. Union commerce minister Anand Sharma and Delhi state chief Sheila Dikshit addressed a rally wherein they explained the economic policies to locals and brushed away the alleged rumours over the retail opening for foreign supermarkets. Meanwhile, Anand Sharma also talked tough in defence of the central government and slammed the BJP and CPI, who are campaigning against the government's decision on retail reforms.
