EU not in favor of carbon tax: EU Climate Commissioner

Connie Hedegaard, the EU Commissioner for Climate Action, presently on a brief visit to India in New Delhi on Friday said that European Union (EU) is not in favour of imposing carbon tax vis-à-vis the trends in climate change. She mentioned the 'caps and trade system for emission cuts' as a viable alternative. Further she noted that there is urgency on the climate matters and the system of certain restrictions is the effective way to speed up the emission cuts.
