Gang rape of schoolgirl; Tension in Surat

Tension prevailed in the diamond and textile hub of Surat in Gujarat on Monday as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad spearheaded a shutdown call in protest against the gang rape of a schoolgirl. According to reports, a 12th standard schoolgirl was physically assaulted in a moving car early on Friday morning. Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the locals to remain calm.
