Guj HC orders CBI to probe Sadiq Jamal encounter

In a setback to Gujarat Police, the state high court on Thursday ordered a CBI inquiry in the 2003 Sadiq Jamal Mehtar encounter case. This is the first time that the Gujarat HC has ordered a CBI probe into an encounter by the state police. The HC has ordered CBI to complete its probe preferably within six months. Speaking to mediapersons after the court's judgment, lawyer Mukul Sinha, who represented the family of Mehtar to contest the accusation of the police before the High Court elaborated on the verdict.
