HT Explains: What you can expect from this year's budget
Updated on Feb 24, 2015 07:33 pm IST
The budget more than an accounting exercise is also seen as a grand occasion for the government to announce an overarching intent of reforms, explains Gaurav Choudhury, Economy Editor, HT. He adds that the government is most likely going to focus on skill development in this budget. He predicts that there will be a surge in prices for services for example a visit to the beauty parlour or the gym will become more expensive. The NREGA will most probably see a design overhaul by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Most importantly, he says that the government should prove that 'Make in India' is not just a slogan and that welfare economics like the NREGA and the Food law are here to stay.
