Updated on Jun 26, 2009 09:50 pm IST

Farmers in central Madhya Pradesh state are worried that a drought like situation due to late monsoons in the country will push them deep into perpetual debt. Farmers' worry that the Kharif crop may not be sown on usual time of June, which accounts for 163 mm of 890 mm for the entire monsoon season. The farmers fear that they may be forced to sell their lands in order to repay their debts and move to cities like Bombay or Delhi in search of work as labourers.
