Indian farmers up in arms over proposed power project

Seeking return of farmland acquired to set up a power plant, hundreds of farmers took to the streets in Dadri of Uttar Pradesh on Friday. Reliance Power held by Anil Ambani's ADA group had announced the setting up 3,500-megawatt gas-based power plant in the area at the cost of $2.2 million. The protest was jointly organised by the farmers unions and central ruling Congress Party.
