Janata Dal (United) splits over the Women's Reservation Bill
A sharp division emerged within regional Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) on Saturday over its support to the women's reservation Bill, with the party President Sharad Yadav opposing the Bill and on the contrary, senior party leader and chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar seeking early passage of the Bill. Speaking to media in New Delhi on Saturday, JD (U) President Sharad Yadav challenged BJP and Congress and dared them to issue a whip to their respective party parliamentarians to support the Bill.
