After DMK chief M Karunanidhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, too, has written to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, demanding that the government take a strong stand against Sri Lanka at the United Nation's human rights body meet. Listing out the various hardships faced by the Tamils living in Sri Lanka, Jayalalithaa said that India must take a strong, historic and courageous stance in the matter. Union Ministers A.K. Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad and P Chidambaram are likely to discuss the issue with DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Monday. Meanwhile, thousands of students across India took to the streets demanding an independent probe into the charges of genocide levied against the Sri Lankan army during the country's civil war, which ended in 2009.
