Kashmir sees a rise in sale of dates during Ramadan
Updated on Aug 30, 2009 08:11 pm IST
Traders of date fruit are doing good business in Muslim-dominated Srinagar city during the ongoing fasting month of Ramadan, as Muslims break their 'Roza' with this fruit. During Ramadan, muslims do not take food or water from dawn to dusk. They eat Sehri, a pre-dawn meal and the day- end Iftar, breaking of fast. Instead of water or any other thing, they prefer to break their fasts with date fruits.
