West Bengal's main opposition leader, Mamata Banerjee on Friday demanded 400 acres of land for farmers rendered landless by Tata Motors's small car plant in Singur. The Trinamool Congress took out a rally led by Banerjee to support farmers left landless by the project. Tata Motors had suspended work at Singur earlier this month after violent protests by farmers unwilling to give up their land for the factory.
