The police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested Maoist leader Dashrath Mahto in Jharkhand on Friday. Mahato, whose father and brother are also fighting for the maoist movement, was arrested in the forest area of Hazaribagh district. A rifle along with 26 cartridges was also recovered from the arrested rebel. The Maoists, described by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the country's biggest internal security threat, say they are crusading against the prevailing political system, upholding the cause of the poor and marginal farmers and landless labourers.
