Congress emerged as the single largest party in the Meghalaya assembly election results, which were declared on March 7, 2008. Congress won 25 seats in the 60-member state assembly. Congress in Meghalaya has headed a coalition over the past five years. It is expected to make another bid for power after sewing together an alliance.
