Militants open fire at army camp in Uri, J&K

Militants opened fire into an army camp killing 8 security men in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. Gunmen fired at a search party in Soura, in the outskirts of Srinagar, and a grenade was hurled at a police station in Shopian. Militants, three of whom were gunned down, carried out the attack on the army camp at Mohra, in Uri Tehsil, at around 3 AM, and engaged the security forces in a fierce gun battle. The attacks come days ahead of the third phase of assembly elections.
