Modi temple to be replaced with 'Bharat Mata' temple after PM expresses displeasure
Updated on Feb 12, 2015 03:24 pm IST
The inauguration ceremony of the temple made to worship Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajkot's Kothadia village has been cancelled after his disapproving tweet on the same. According to reports, the initiator has decided to remove the idol and photograph from the site and build a "Bharat Mata" temple in its place. Modi tweeted earlier in the day saying, "Have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and against India's great traditions. Building such Temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it.” He urged his supporters to instead devote their time and resources towards fulfilling the dream of a clean India.
