Monthly inflation moderates to 6.55%

India's annual rate of inflation for the month of January fell to a 25-month low of 6.55%. The headline inflation may prompt the Reserve Bank to cut policy rates in the coming months. Adressing reporters, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said that the rate of price rise was still not at an acceptable level and should fall further.
