As a result of the signing of a series of agreements between India and Bangladesh the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries have reflected signs of qualitative progressive steps. Indian Prime Manmohan Singh, presently on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh said this at Dhaka on Tuesday. However, they failed to resolve their main disputes, over transit rights for India and the sharing of waters of certain trans-national rivers. Speaking at the formal banquet hosted in his honour by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Manmohan Singh said that Bangladesh was in the midst of a major socio-economic transformation, with its economy witnessing a steady growth during the last several years.
