Rajnath faces heat for ‘apology’ remark

Updated on Feb 26, 2014 04:23 pm IST

Making an all-out attempt to woo Muslim voters, BJP president Rajnath Singh has said that his party will ask for forgiveness if it had ever committed any mistake in the past. The BJP chief was apparently referring to the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, over which the party and the state's Chief Minister and now its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has faced enough criticism. However the remark made by Singh drew criticism from political parties.
