Rape victim commits suicide in Jharkhand

A girl in Jharkhand succumbed after consuming toxic pesticide when she was unable to bear the trauma of being raped. The tragic news came to light in Koderma district of Jharkhand. She was reportedly physically exploited eight days ago. Meanwhile, the police claimed that the accused in the case had been identified and also nabbed. The members of the victim's family have alleged that they were being threatened by the family of the accused. They also said mounting pressure was on them to withdraw the case. According to reports, the victim was being pressurised to marry her alleged rapist. A close relative of the rape victim insisted that the boy must be awarded death penalty like the convicts of Delhi gang rape case.
