Recession takes toll on the handicrafts industry

The slump in the global market has hit the 150 billion Rupees handicrafts industry of Pink City, Jaipur as the dearth of tourists has brought down the sales by almost fifty percent. A home to more than 200 handicraft-making units, the state exports handmade artifacts to more than 30 countries. But these units now bear a stranded look and the exports have gone down by almost twenty five percent.
