Spain funds a project to conserve Varanasi

Government of Spain recently signed an agreement with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage or INTACH to conserve the monuments of Varanasi city. Under the project, INTACH funded by Spain, around 200 monuments, riverbanks that form a part of the heritage city will be conserved. Spanish experts, who converted Bilbao, once branded as the 'ugliest city' into a popular tourist destination, have come forth to share their secrets with INTACH to conserve the heritage monuments here and develop a world class infrastructure for the holy town.
