Traditional healer uses leech therapy

A traditional healer in Kashmir uses leech therapy to treat his patients, mostly with cuts and wounds, gouts and hypertension. The application of medicinal leech 'Hirudo medicinalis' for clearing poison from body has been practiced for long. Leech therapy is effective in surgical reattachments of fingers, toes, and ears for its ability to prevent venous congestion.
