Distressed by Maoist atrocities, two women ultras, including a minor, surrendered before the police in Orissa on Tuesday. The surrendered Maoists were identified as Jamba Nachika alias Reena, aged 18 and Tarai Madingi, aged 16. They were active members of the local unit of Jana Natya Mandali, a cultural troupe of the Communist Party of India-Maoist. Nachika was a Maoist cadre for the last three years and was involved in several crimes, including murder cases. However, Madingi had joined the rebels only three months ago. Talking to mediapersons, Nachika said that they did not like the ideology of the organisation, which compelled them to leave and join the mainstream.
