Varun Gandhi charged with attempt to murder, rioting

The Bharatiya Janata Party 's candidate for the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency, Varun Gandhi, has been charged with attempt to murder, rioting and other offences in a case filed in connection with the violence that took place on Saturday. Police on Sunday continued to maintain a close vigil on law and order in the district. Twenty-nine-year-old Varun, Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Kalraj Mishra, local MLA Sukhlal and former party MLA BK Gupta, have been named in another case.
