J Jayalalithaa proved her detractors wrong yet again as she steered AIADMK to power for a second consecutive term on Thursday. The party led in 129 seats while the DMK-Congress alliance was ahead in 100.

Soon after the trends set in, noisy celebrations were witnessed outside Jayalalithaa's residence in Chennai. Holding her portraits, supporters danced to music and burst firecrackers.

Amid all this frenzy, party workers were seen scrambling to wish their leader at her residence. The stood in a queue, pranced ahead with a bouquet and touched her feet before being moved along by the security guards. The Tamil Nadu chief minister then addressed jubilant party workers and vowed to work with a new found energy for the welfare of people of Tamil Nadu.
