Watch: PM Modi joins 35,000 people on International Yoga Day, calls it 'new era of peace'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Rajpath around 6:40am, where the stage was set for the first-ever International Yoga Day celebrations. "Did anybody ever think that this Rajpath will become a yogpath?" he asked the participants. "We are not only celebrating a day but we are training the human mind to begin a new era of peace, sadbhavana", he said, adding 'yoga is more than physical fitness'. After the short speech, the PM left the dais and joined people. He took off his spectacles and mingled with the crowd, barefooted. Students, government employees and citizens took up positions on neatly laid out mats to perform yoga for over 35 minutes. The organisers have applied for a Guinness record for the largest simultaneous assembly of people at a yoga event.
