World record of planting 3 lakh saplings

Residents of Chautaki village in Assam's Bongaigaon district tried to create a world record by planting large number of saplings. Around 300 people created a record by planting 300, 000 saplings in a single day. An independent observer from the World Wildlife Fund was called into oversee the entire activity. The villagers' attempt was aimed at preserving environment by planting so many saplings.
