Watch: Young Indians break social taboos with dating apps

Updated on Jul 08, 2015 07:32 pm IST

Dating apps are tempting more and more young indians to break social taboos. Recently, users of a popular social dating app turned up to the June 11 event - called 'Unsingle' at Gurgaon, south west of New Delhi - in the hopes of meeting someone special. The success of social dating apps might seem surprising in India - still a deeply conservative country where arranged marriage is the norm, and marrying outside of your religious or ethnic community is often taboo. But young people growing up in an era of economic growth and modernisation are embracing Western ideas, and are increasingly willing to risk scandal to do so.
