Maduro's aide lashes out at US, slams ‘vulgar & barbaric’ dispossession of Venezuela-owned Citgo

Published on Dec 03, 2025 11:25 am IST

Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez slammed a U.S. court decision approving the sale of Citgo Petroleum, calling it a “barbaric dispossession” of one of the country’s key foreign assets. Speaking in Caracas, Rodriguez accused Washington of manipulating the judicial process and excluding both the Venezuelan government and PDVSA. She also alleged that opposition figures, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado, presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, and former interim president Juan Guaidó, were complicit in the controversial sale. The ruling, issued by Judge Leonard P. Stark, authorizes the transfer of PDV Holding to Amber Energy, ending a multi-year legal battle and intensifying diplomatic tensions between Caracas and Washington.
