Minneapolis shooting: Vance backs ICE agent for 'doing his job', then refers to 'capital punishment'

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance defends an ICE officer who fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis, arguing state investigators have no role because a “federal law enforcement official engaging in federal law enforcement action” is a “federal issue” and claiming the agent is protected by “absolute immunity,” while accusing Minnesota officials of encouraging violence against ICE and calling local attempts to scrutinise the officer “preposterous.” He insists the woman “tried to ram somebody with her car,” saying that ramming an officer “justifies being shot” in self‑defence even if her death is a “tragedy,” and lashes out at reporters for portraying her as an innocent protester and the ICE agent as a murderer, saying the media have become “agents of propaganda of a radical fringe” that is making it harder to enforce immigration laws.
