Iran is seeking a post-war Strait of Hormuz arrangement that would bar U.S. warships and give Tehran a major role in overseeing shipping, according to reports on the negotiations. Iran and Oman are nearing a draft deal that would place Gulf-bound ships in a lane near Iran and outbound vessels in a lane near Oman; Tehran says the talks concern safe navigation and the sovereign rights and security of both coastal states.
