Agnipath Gorkha row: Nepal hopes to get clarity from Indian Army chief

- Nepal is looking forward to an upcoming visit by Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande to help clear the air on the possible recruitment of Nepalese citizens under the Agnipath scheme. India has submitted a formal proposal to Nepal seeking approval for recruitment of Nepalese citizens under the Agnipath scheme in July but there has been no official response from Kathmandu so far. However, the Indian Army has said that the Agnipath issue is unlikely to be taken up during the army chief’s first visit to Nepal. Both countries are yet to formally announce the visit.
