Army gears up with desi rough-terrain vehicles amid standoff with China in Ladakh & Arunachal

In the midst of border tensions with China, the Indian Army intends to purchase 300 indigenous logistics rough terrain vehicles. These desi vehicles can be used for cargo transport as well as casualty evacuation. According to sources, the army will use an emergency procurement fast-track procedure to purchase the highly mobile, multi-configurable vehicles. The army wants these vehicles to be helicopter transportable in medium- to high-altitude areas. More importantly, the rough terrain vehicles should be operable at heights of 16,000 ft.
