Ayushman Bharat Digital: Why PM Modi’s new scheme could be a game-changer

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Under the scheme, a unique digital ID will be provided to all citizens which will contain their health records. Launching the scheme, the Prime Minister said “Today is a very important day. The drive to strengthen the health facilities of the country, in the last 7 years, is entering a new phase today. This is not an ordinary phase. This is an extraordinary phase”. Hospitals, doctors, paramedical staff, medical stores will be integrated into the system so that the patients can find the best possible facilities for themselves under the new scheme.
