Published on Dec 01, 2021 04:56 pm IST
US President Joe Biden's top Pacific envoy on Tuesday accused China of trying to "drive Australia to its knees" through a barrage of sanctions that amounted to "economic warfare." Veteran diplomat Kurt Campbell -- who currently serves as the White House Indo-Pacific coordinator -- lampooned Beijing for strong-arm tactics, the AFP reported. China has been angered at Australia's willingness to legislate against overseas influence operations, to bar Huawei from 5G contracts and to call for an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. It also fumed when Australia joined 3-nation military alliance AUKUS in September this year. Watch the video for more.
